Privacy Policy
Stevens is a Gmail sidecar that helps users triage email, keep Gmail labels current, and prepare reviewable draft replies. This policy explains what data Stevens accesses, what Stevens stores, and how Google account data is handled.
Last updated: April 10, 2026
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Stevens website, app, and related services operated by Peter Blanco. By using Stevens, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy.
2. Information Stevens collects
Stevens collects and receives the following categories of data:
- Google account information such as your name, email address, profile image, and authentication identifiers.
- OAuth credentials and related connection metadata needed to keep your Gmail account connected.
- Gmail thread identifiers, message identifiers, timestamps, label state, workflow state, derived classification results, draft status, and short abstract reasons that explain the product's decisions.
- Drafting preferences, onboarding state, processing status, and other settings you choose in Stevens.
- Technical and operational information such as session records, request logs, and troubleshooting data.
3. How Stevens uses Gmail data
Stevens uses Gmail access to operate as a sidecar to your inbox, not as a separate mail client.
- Stevens reads Gmail thread content and metadata when needed to classify threads, determine whether a reply is needed, and prepare draft suggestions.
- Stevens may create, update, or remove Gmail labels in your mailbox and may create draft replies in your Gmail account.
- Stevens does not send email automatically on your behalf.
- Stevens is designed not to store raw email bodies, raw email subjects, or raw email headers in its Postgres database.
4. How Stevens uses your information
Stevens uses collected data to:
- authenticate you and maintain your account;
- provide Gmail labeling, triage, and draft suggestion features;
- remember your settings and onboarding choices;
- monitor reliability, secure the service, and fix problems; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce the Terms of Service.
5. AI processing and service providers
To generate classifications and draft suggestions, Stevens may submit Gmail thread content and related context to third-party service providers that help operate the service, including AI model providers. That processing is used only to provide Stevens features requested by you.
Stevens does not sell Gmail content, does not use Gmail content for advertising, and does not permit Google Workspace API data to be used to develop, improve, or train generalized AI or machine learning models.
Stevens also uses third-party infrastructure providers to operate the service, including Railway for application hosting and deployment. Railway may process personal information and service data as necessary to provide compute, networking, logging, and related platform services on Stevens' behalf.
6. Google API Services disclosure
Stevens' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
7. Sharing of information
Stevens does not sell your personal information. Stevens may disclose information only:
- to vendors and processors that help operate the service;
- if required by law, regulation, or legal process;
- to protect the rights, safety, and security of Stevens or others;
- in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets; or
- with your direction or consent.
8. Retention and deletion
Stevens retains account data, connection data, and derived sidecar state for as long as your account remains active or as needed to operate the service and satisfy legal obligations.
You can delete your Stevens account from the Settings page. Deleting your account removes Stevens-stored user data associated with your account, including sidecar state, saved settings, onboarding state, sessions, and stored Google account connection records.
Gmail labels or drafts that Stevens already created inside your Gmail account may remain in Gmail after your Stevens account is deleted unless you remove them from Gmail directly.
9. Your choices
- You can pause Stevens from changing Gmail labels and drafts in the Settings page.
- You can revoke Stevens' access in your Google account permissions settings at any time.
- You may contact Stevens to request access, correction, or deletion, subject to applicable law and technical limitations.
10. Security
Stevens uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, and you use the service at your own risk.
11. Children's privacy
Stevens is not directed to children under 13, and Stevens does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
12. Changes to this policy
Stevens may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When that happens, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
